What is Parents as Teachers?

The services are overseen by a certified Parent Educator, and are driven by the parent. Our Parent Educators are there to help and support parents, not tell them how to raise their child. During each fun and informative visit, the Parent Educator will bring an activity that parents and children can enjoy together, and suggest information that can help parents in the joyful yet sometimes overwhelming experience of raising a child.

The information and activities are evidence-based, designed to promote optimal child development, and assist children in becoming prepared to learn well before they begin school. Developmental, hearing, and vision screenings are also provided to help families track their child's development. There are also group events to help parents in the community connect with each other in a fun atmosphere.

Who can participate?

Families can enroll in visitation services while they are pregnant or have child 24 months of age or younger, and continue with the program until the child is 3 years old. Please contact us for further information if you are interested in home visitation services.

WYCRP's Parents as Teachers Affiliate Program provides services in four counties in Wyoming. All participants must live in Albany, Laramie, Natrona or Sweetwater Counties.
